Cody England

Cody is a post‐digital surrealist from rural Cave City, Arkansas, where his earliest creative influences came from watching his mother and great‐grandmother paint. As a teen and young adult, Cody carried that lineage forward through nature‐inspired, cutesy artworks in watercolor, acrylics, and pen & markers, developing a sense of softness, and charm that still echoes through his practice today.

As his work evolved, Cody mostly shifted from traditional media into digital space, embracing 3D modeling, sculpting, shading, and rendering as expressive tools rather than technical processes, often blending it with other techniques like photography, vector graphics, and motion & animation. Feeling limited by the lazy & inexpressive process, and having strong ethical concerns, Cody refuses to use generative AI for his genuine artwork.

Cody strives to create unique perceptual experiences beyond flat images in frames. He often uses anaglyph stereoscopy, where red and cyan 3D glasses transform his art into illusions; giving each artwork depth, as if looking through a window into another world. Other times, especially for wearable art pieces, Cody uses lenticular printing techniques to create moving or morphing artworks.

Being born at the dawn of the internet age, witnessing the rise of social media & AI slop and how these things affect and influence our daily lives and relationships is a big influence on the subjects of his art. His style sits at the intersection of post‐digital surrealism, post‐cute aesthetics, and post‐sincerity, blending engineered precision with emotional ambiguity. The sweetness in his forms often carries a subtle satirical undercurrent — a quiet critique embedded inside sincerity — revealing how modern digital culture can feel both tender & cold, human & artificial, practical & absurd all at the same time.

Cody’s practice also frequently explores interface formalism, reconstructing computer interfaces as sculptural objects and spatial environments. By rebuilding UI elements from scratch inside 3D space he turns familiar digital structures into tactile, inhabitable worlds. This approach reframes the interface as an artifact of contemporary life, something more tangible than controls and information on a screen.

Through his surreal creations, Cody is committed to finding truth through distortion and juxtaposition. His images do not depict reality; they reveal it. Through stylization, stereoscopy, and post‐digital aesthetics, he creates worlds where sincerity carries satire, softness carries critique, and distortion becomes a form of clarity.
