OIL PAINTING
Nancy Weaver
Although she creates primarily nature scenes in oils, her favorite subject and medium, she is always eager to try other art avenues.
Nancy was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, and now lives in Evening Shade, Arkansas. From the third grade on, she enjoyed skiing the scenic Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Like her mother, who began painting after her retirement, Nancy has been exploring her love of painting since 2015. At that time, she attended her first art class with Eva Haley, whom Nancy credits for much of her improvement as an artist.
Having grown up near Lake Tahoe, Nancy finds her inspiration in the great outdoors and the magical scenes discovered in nature. Many of her paintings showcase her love of nature and her colorful, charming style. She lived briefly in San Francisco in the 1960s.
When she isn’t painting, Nancy enjoys the active life of a pastor’s wife — Sunday school teacher, song director, Bible study, jail ministry (where she serves as chaplain) and Awana facilitator.
Nancy also belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Friends of the Library. She attended the first United Nations Environmental Conference in Denmark with Shirley Temple Black representing the United States.
Nancy, who enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and her three mini-Yorkies, is a world traveler. She has sailed on various cruises. She has taken several road trips with her husband and daughter, one to Washington state, Oregon, down through the giant redwoods in California. Other traveling highlights include Alaska, Colorado, Montana, Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, a fall foliage trip through Vermont, and a “lighthouse” trek down the Eastern Coast. After all of her travels, she states, “I believe Arkansas is as pretty as any places I have visited!!!”
A member of three art galleries, Nancy appreciates the opportunity to display her art and the encouraging acceptance of her fellow artists.
Nancy, whose major loves are her family, Jesus, art and her little fur babies, states, “I believe to paint a good picture, it has to come from your heart.”
